Fuel
Your vessel is full of fuel on take over. All of our boats carry around 550 litres of diesel which is more than enough to cover any duration of cruise and not require to fill up. The average weekly fuel consumption across an entire season is approx. 150 - 200 L for the larger vessels and 110 - 150 L for the smaller vessels. The fuel consumption during spring and autumn is often higher than the seasonal average, due to weather conditions and increased use of heating.
Some of our larger vessels (Highland Monarch, Taransay, Strathspey, Highland Glen) can use significantly more fuel, particularly if you travel at speed, many hours a day or do any of the lochs twice. If you do this you can expect a considerably higher fuel bill at the end of your holiday. However if you keep the revs down and do the standard cruise most fuel consumptions are around the average figure quoted in the table below.
A Fuel & Security Deposit is required prior to the hand-over (see Prices & Information page).
At the end of your holiday your boat will be refuelled and fuel bills finalised.
In accordance with government guidelines, fuel is charged at a 60/40 split rate. This means 60% is charged as standard road fuel and 40% is charged as standard marine diesel. As with road fuel, the price changes frequently. For current fuel prices, please contact our office and we are happy to advise.
