Dochgarroch is the first lock you will go through after you leave our boat yard in Inverness. It is a very picturesque spot with many private boats and yachts. Scottish Canals toilet & shower facilities are located next to the lock and there is also the option to plug into mains power ashore at certain moorings (please ask the lock keeper to assist with using the shore power).
Inverness is just about 5 miles away by road.
Oakwood Restaurant – Many of our regular customers know The Oakwood Restaurant when it was located at the roadside. It has now moved aboard the vessel Highland Lassie, which is moored at the east side of Dochgarroch. She is a converted Fishing vessel and also offers B&B accommodation. The boat is only at Dochgarroch for the 2020 season, as the plan is to take her out of the canal to the west coast as a mobile, floating B&B/Restaurant as of 2021.
The Oakwood has always been very popular with the boating community. Superb meals using finest local produce, such as hand dived scallops from Shetland and prime Orkney beef from an award winning Orcadian butcher.
Table booking is essential and please bring your own bottle, as the restaurant is unlicensed.
