Our Story
Caley Cruisers was established in 1969 by Jim & Elizabeth Hogan. The hire fleet is now owned by their son Jamie, aided by a great team, many of whom have a long history of working with the company. We were the first company to start chartering hire vessels on the Caledonian Canal.
All of the boats that have been introduced to the hire fleet since 1997 have been fitted out by our team at the boatyard. They are purpose designed for our unique operating area and have important safety features like all round safety rails and engines with increased horsepower. The weather conditions can get quite challenging on Loch Ness and Loch Lochy so it’s important you have the right boat to keep you and your family safe during your holiday. Our most recent additions to the fleet are the Torridon, Kintail and Islay range of vessels.
Our boats are maintained to a very high standard and we are continually investing in the fleet to keep it modern and in tip top condition.
For many years we have been introducing families to the splendours of the Great Glen, exploring Loch Ness, keeping a hopeful eye out for “Nessie” and enjoying what is probably the world’s most beautiful inland waterway.
Since 1997 we have been regularly adding new vessels to our fleet and all of these have been fitted out on site by our experienced team of boat builders.
The newest ranges to our fleet, the Kintail Class, a stunning 4 berth cruiser, ideal for 2 couples, and Torridon Class, which is ideal for both families and couples.
The hulls are supplied by Haines Marine in Norfolk. Haines have a long tradition of supplying quality vessels to both the private and charter market. The windows are supplied by Trend Marine Products and the stainless steel rails and tanks supplied from DC Marine, both also in Norlfolk. The windows and stainless products are transported up from Norfolk inside the empty hull and work commences immediately. The complete fit out usually takes around 5 months with a team of 3 people working full time.
The Islay Class was a full build from Haines Marine in Norfolk. With meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of the sea, Haines Marine has crafted a series of boats that embody both elegance and functionality. The Islay boat class, named after the picturesque Scottish island, offers a seamless blend of traditional design elements and modern features.
