Fort Augustus

Fort Augustus is one of the most picturesque stops along the canal with it’s flight of locks and the historic Benedictine Abbey. The Abbey has been developed into apartments and cottages for sale and rent. So, if you're looking for a second home in one of Scotland's most famous and beautiful areas, here is your chance (provided you have enough spare change, that is).

Hire a bike and cycle the Great Glen cycle route, visit the Caledonian Canal Heritage Centre or eat a splendid meal in one of the canal side restaurants. A visit to the Clansman Centre offers an interesting Highland Life living museum and history show.

Fort Augustus also gives you the opportunity to top-up your supplies as there are many shops available along the canal side, incl. Post Office, newsagent, small food stores, butcher, gift shops, petrol station, Tourist Information Centre.
