Caley Cruisers
About Us

Caley Cruisers was established in 1970 by Jim & Elizabeth Hogan and has been managed by the family since then.  Jim & Elizabeth are now both retired from the business but still have an active interest in it.  The hire fleet is now managed by their youngest daughter Audrey, aided by a great team, some of whom have worked with the company for many years.   We were the first company to start chartering hire vessels on the Caledonian Canal, you can read about the early days of the company here

All of the boats that have been introduced to the hire fleet since 1997 have been fitted out by our team at the boatyard.  They are purpose designed for our unique operating area and have important safety features like all round safety rails and engines with increased horsepower.  The weather conditions can get quite challenging on Loch Ness and Loch Lochy so it's important you have the right boat to keep you and your family safe during your holiday.

Our boats are maintained to a very high standard and we are continually investing in the fleet to keep it modern and in tip top condition.  We undertook a major refurbishment in 2010 and 2011 so most boat classes have a smart new contemporary look which has been very well received by our visitors.

For over 40 years we have been introducing families to the splendours of the Great Glen, cruising through Loch Ness, keeping a hopeful eye out for "Nessie" and enjoying what is probably the world's most beautiful inland waterway.

Caley Cruisers is part of a group of companies owned and managed by the Hogan family:

Caley Marina - opened in the 1980s - operates on the same site as the boat charter; so if you are looking to splash out on a new boat, engine or even a lovely sailing jacket you can pop into the showroom if you have a spare minute.

Inverness Marina is a new marina with berthing for up to 150 yachts - in operation since 2008.

An excellent week, friendly staff, helpful lock keepers, best scenery – thank you!
