As from 1st November 2008, a new regulation will come into effect regarding the cost of fuel. Up until now all private pleasure craft have been eligable to use rebated fuel (red diesel), however in order to comply with European legislation, fuel used for propelling private pleasure craft (which hire vessels are classed as) will no longer benefit from the reduced rate of duty. This will unfortunately increase the cost of fuel as the price will now be the same as road fuel. The fuel deposits we have set for the fleet in 2009 are based on the current cost of fuel, cover the average fuel used and provide a refund. All our boats hold approximately 550 litres of fuel which is more than enough to cover a couple of weeks cruising without having to refuel. At the end of your holiday your boat will be refuelled and payments finalised. Any extra fuel used can be settled on departure. If you would like any further information regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
We will be fitting out another new Eriskay during this winter. Eriskay 005 will be available on a Monday start during 2009.
After many faithful years of service, Highland Captain has been taken off the fleet and will find herself in private ownership very shortly. She does have a large fan base of regular customers and all of the staff here at Caley Cruisers will be sad to see her leave the fleet, however she will still be based in the boat yard as her new owners will be keeping her at Caley Marina for the time being.
